Danyang Winpower Popular Science | Flame-retardant cables “Fire tempers gold”
Fires and heavy losses from cable problems are common. They occur at big power stations. They also occur on industrial and commercial rooftops. They also occur at households with solar panels. The industry adds more tests. They stop problems and standardize electrical products. The tests are thorough and check for flame retardants. Common cable flame retardant standards include VW-1 and FT-1 vertical burning tests. The Danyang Winpower Laboratory has professional vertical burning detection equipment. Cable products made in Danyang Winpower factories will pass tough flame tests here. They must be flame retardant. They will do so before delivery. So how does this experiment work? Why does the industry use this experiment as a standard? It tests the flame retardant performance of cables.
Experimental testing process:
The experiment says to keep the sample vertical. Use the test blowtorch (flame height 125mm, heat power 500W) to burn for 15 seconds. Then stop for 15 seconds. Repeat this 5 times.
Qualified judgment standard:
1. You cannot carbonize the burning mark (kraftpaper) more than 25%.
2. The burning time of 5 times of 15 seconds cannot exceed 60 seconds.
3. The burning, dripping, cannot ignite cotton.
Danyang Winpower’s flame retardant cable has vertical burning test standards. These include CSA’s FT-1 test and UL’s VW-1 test. The only difference between VW-1 and FT-1 is that FT-1 lacks the third point in the standard. That point is “the dripping cannot ignite cotton”. So, VW-1 is stricter than FT-1.
Also, it passed the vertical burning test (IEC 62930 IEC131/H1Z2Z2K). TUV gave Danyang Winpower’s Cca cable a passing grade. It also passed the IEC 60332-3 bundled burning test. The above experiments focus on time, height, and temperature of burning. In contrast, the IEC test focuses on smoke density, gas toxicity, and cold bending. In actual projects, you can choose appropriate flame retardant cables as needed.
When making better energy, ensuring safety is crucial. It’s crucial for the project and for people and nature. This is the top thing for every maker to think about. Danyang Winpower has been in the energy industry for over ten years. It has created its own set of quality management guidelines. The products meet global standards. They also aim to exceed them. And they are moving towards “0 errors” in production and “0 accidents” in use. In the future, Danyang Winpower will focus on new energy. They will keep promoting tech innovation and empowering the solar industry.
