DC charging module output connection wiring solution

Electric vehicles advance, and charging stations take center stage. They are key infrastructure for the EV industry. Their safe and efficient operation is vital. The charging module is the key part of the charging pile. It provides energy and electricity. It also controls the circuit and converts AC to DC. Its efficient, stable output determines the charging speed and safety. The connection line, which transmits power, affects charging efficiency and safety.

About cable cross-section

The charging module supplies 20 kW, 30 kW, or 40 kW of power. The working voltage can reach 1000 V in high-voltage mode. Select cables for their voltage tolerance and current capacity. This will prevent overheating or damage to the insulation.

In high-voltage mode, the output cable current must be:

20 A for a 20 kW module

30 A for a 30 kW module

40 A for a 40 kW module

Use cables with a cross-section of at least 12 AWG (4 mm²), 10 AWG (6 mm²), or 8 AWG (10 mm²). They are safer and more stable for long-term use.

About temperature resistance

The charging module works at -40℃ to +75℃. So, the cable must have great temperature resistance and stability. Due to high voltage and high current heat, the cable insulation must withstand at least 90℃. This will improve safety.

About insulation material performance

The charging module is usually inside the charging pile. It is less affected by the external environment. The protection level is only IP20. So, the cable must be low in wear, tear, and corrosion resistance. The use of general PVC cables can meet the requirements.
